Teacher, Healer, Artist, Althea Knight, was born in London, England, raised in Canada and is of Jamaican descent. This cultural mixture was the predecessor to a life lived outside of one place, one way of being and doing. She is a seasoned traveller and explorer of other ways of doing and being, and has lived and worked all over the U.K., France, the U.S., Brazil, Ireland, Scotland, Mexico, Canada and Slovenia in Eastern Europe, Jamaica, and Australia.

As early as she can remember, Althea has searched for the Divine within and outside of herself. This quest has lead her to move around the planet learning all she can about various ways of expression in life in order to better understand herself and those who seek her assistance with moving forward in their own lives and in their communities. Her life has been a passionate exploration of truth, education, mysticism, creation and healing.

Althea’s ancestry is one of healing, teaching and social change. Both of her grandfathers and her paternal grandmother were spiritual leaders in their communities. Her maternal grandfather also practiced the “laying of hands” healings on those who requested it. Each of her grandmothers were prophetic dream seers and highly intuitive. Teachers are numerous on both sides of the family. Her parents are both social justice activists with her mother having been the president of a women’s organization for social change while her father continues to address social inequities at all levels of society.

With over twenty years teaching experience in the public and private sector with both adults, youth, and children; and more than a decade facilitating workshops in cultural sensitivity and the healing arts, Althea is committed to personal development of herself and others. She has a Bachelors in Education, is a certified reflexologist, a reiki master, has studied Crystal Healing, Aromatherapy, Yoga, Tai Chi, Shiatsu, Vipassana Meditation, Integrated Energy Therapy (I.E.T.), Angel therapy, Spiritual Development, Metaphysics and Nutrition. Music and dancing hav been an integral part of Althea's life since she was a child and she continues to explore and expand these passions. Althea has also worked in theatre as a director and stage manager, and is also a visionary artist who has artwork in collections across North America and Europe.

She has worked with teachers and healers in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Ireland, the U.S. and Jamaica to further her teachings and personal wellness. This training in different disciplines in the mind body and spirit connection has fostered her personal commitment to an integrated, animated and accessible approach to wellness.

Combining her education, experience, and intuitive gifts, Althea
is passionately dedicated to enabling all who work with her to awaken, engage and reclaim their personal power, health and well being through the healing and creative arts. In the sacred act of creative expression one is empowered, freedom is felt and the Soul encouraged. Her goal with The Creative Art of Being is to bring about positive social change and well being for all.
